Fortress Interlocks – Interlock Blocking

IBL Interlocks from Fortress are specially designed for extra safety surrounding machine access points. They limit the opening and closing of sliding and hinged doors using trapped keys, which will disable non-contact switches from being aligned and thus halting machinery.

Various industrial workspaces are fitted with access points for entry and exit into machine areas. As such, to ensure safety in operator movement throughout the workspaces, RFID and magnetic safety non-contact safety switches are often fitted to these doors and used as conditions to enable/disable normal machine operation. Only when a door is secured and in place can machinery continue to operate as usual.

In the case of operator maintenance and machine downtime, Fortress have developed the IBL line of interlock blocking devices to prevent doors from closing safety switches from fully closing. This means that machinery can not accidentally restart during maintenance, preventing injuries and machine malfunction. IBL interlocks are offered in configurations for both hinged and sliding doors – the IBL-H and IBL-S respectively.
