ReeR’s SAFEGATE light curtains are a line of safety rated light curtains. They use infrared light to beams to create barriers around hazardous machinery, but they differ from other ReeR light curtains in the fact that they have provisions for muting and programmability.
How muting works:
Generally, when light curtain beams are obstructed, the light curtain receiver will then send a control signal which will cause a halt in machine operation. However, some parts of the automation/manufacturing line presents situations where light curtains are obstructed often, but only some of these obstructions should be considered dangerous.
SAFEGATE light curtains come with provisions for muting, where auxiliary sensors can detect obstructions to the light curtain and then differentiate on whether these obstructions to the curtain should be ignored or not.
